Missing boy found killed, 3 arrested

Police recovered the body of a teenage boy from Padma River at Godar Bazar in Rajbari Sadar upazila yesterday morning, seven days after he went missing. The deceased, Mithu Sheikh, 15, son of Nurul Islam of Dhunchi village of the upazila, had been working at a shop of one Aker Ali of the village for last three months. He also used to stay at the house of his employer, said family members. Victim's mother Nasima Akther filed a murder case with Rajbari Sadar Police Station in the afternoon, accusing Shukur Ali and four others. Police detained three of the five accused. They are Aker Ali, his father Shukur Ali and wife Rubina Akter. Police said they have launched a drive in the area to arrest the remaining the accused. Locals found Mithu's body floating on the water of the river and informed the police. Later, the law enforcers recovered the body from the spot at about 9:00pm and sent it to Rajbari Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy, said police. Mithu's father said his son was last seen at his employer's shop on January 15. Being outraged at the death of Mithu, local people brought out a procession in the district town demanding punishment of the killers. They also ransacked Shukur's house, said police. On information, police rushed to the spot and took the situation under control. UNB adds: Anisur Rahman, officer in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said the boy might have been strangled. Police Superintendent Rezaul Haque visited the spot.
