Govt to cut tourists' hazards by enacting law: Faruk Khan
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Faruk Khan said various problems facing by tourists would reduce when the proposed Bangladesh tourism law would be in place.
“The draft of Bangladesh tourism act is almost final,” he told reporters after a views-exchange programme with local and Bangladeshi tour operators at Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner office in Kolkata yesterday afternoon.
The programme was organised as part of a two-day Kolkata Road Show that started on Thursday.
Bangladesh Foundation for Tourism Development (BFTD) is organising the road show to highlight the country's tourism sector. Indo-Bangla Cultural Centre is the co-organiser of the road show.
Admitting that communications is one of the major problems for the tourists of both the countries, the minister said it would reduce once the proposed Padma Bridge is constructed.
Replying to a question about the recent plot to remove the government by a section of retired and in service army officers, Faruk Khan said several retired and in-service officers have already arrested.
Faruk Khan said several army officers tried to stage a coup to hamper the ongoing trial of war criminals and disrupt the country's democratic system.
Deputy High Commissioner Mustafizur Rahman, Executive Director of BFTD Rezaul Karim Raju, President of the Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB) MA Muhaimin Saleh and local and Bangladeshi tour operators were present.
