Bogra trader sued for evading tax

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) yesterday filed a case against a Bogra businessman for evading tax. Md Abdus Salam, deputy commissioner of taxes at Bogra Cricle-1, filed the case against Gouri Shanker Prosad, owner of GS International, with the Special Senior Judge's Court in Bogra for evading Tk 16.30 crore tax. Public Prosecutor (PP) advocate Helalur Rahman Helal told this correspondent that the court took the case into cognisance and issued an arrest warrant against the businessman. The court fixed February 6 for hearing of the case. In the case statement, the NBR official alleged that Gouri Shankar evaded the tax by preparing fake documents on import of commodities during the fiscals 2007-2008 and 2009-2010.
