Youth held while abducting college girl in Jamalpur
Criminals kidnapped a teenage boy for ransom at Kolgram Napitpara village in Dupchachia upazila on Saturday evening.
The victim was identified as Mahbubur Pramanik, 13, son of late Zahedul Pramanik and a student of class VII at local Swarabdipur Dakhil Madrasa.
Family sources said a gang of 4-5 criminals abducted Mahbub while he was playing with his friends at a playground at the village.
The gang left the scene leaving behind a note in which they demanded Tk 2 lakh as ransom for the release of the boy.
Police said they heard about the incident but no complaint was lodged in this regard.
In Jamalpur, local people held a young man while abducting a college girl at Pakhimara in Bakshiganj upazila on Tuesday.
Rafiqul, 24, a garment worker and son of Idris Ali of Goalgaon village in the upazila, was later handed over to police.
Police said Rafiqul along with his accomplices forcefully picked up an HSC first year student of Khatemun Moin Mohila College, on her way back home from the college and tried to flee the scene by an auto-rickshaw.
When local people saw the incident, they chased the three-wheeler and managed to catch it at Pakhimara, one and a half kilometres away from the spot. They also caught Rafiqul while his accomplices managed to flee.
The girl's father filed a case with Bakshiganj police station.
