Wrong Treatment of Quack
One dies in Jhenidah
One person died on Thursday after taking treatment from a quack in a Jhenidah village. Sensing possible trouble, the fake kabiraj fled the village days ago.
The dead is Sirajul, 45, a poor farmer from Baliadanga village under Kotchandpur upazila.
The accused is Delwar Hossain of Phulbari village under Kaliganj upazila of the same district.
Local people say Delwar fled the village with two other patients -- Abdus Salam, 35, and Nazim Uddin, 25 -- on Saturday night saying that they would be given better treatment.
Victim's wife Shakera Banu alleged that her husband died on Thursday around 5:30pm due to wrong treatment by the fake kabiraj.
She demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the culprit.
Officer-in-Charge Akram Hossain of Kotchandpur Police Station said Delwar had been treating some people of the village for long.
Quoting Sirajul's wife, he said Delwar on January 4 pushed an injection for producing a boil in Siraj's body, by which, he claimed, all the germs of his body would go. Within days, Sirajul got a boil on his hip and had infection.
As Sirajul's condition deteriorated, Delwar left the village with two other patients on a micro bus on Saturday night.
Sirajul was admitted to Kotchandpur Nursing Home on January 10 but it did not help.
No case has been filed yet, the OC said.
Dr Fazle Akbar of the clinic said Sirajul died due to wrong treatment.
