A Habiganj court on Monday framed charges against seven accused in the case for killing district Tarun League convener Syed Ruhul Islam Pavel in 2010. Among the accused, Pavel Ahmed, Abdur Rouf Molla and Syed Golam Zilani are in jail hajat while Sohel, Abdul Kader and Shahin got bail from the high court. The other accused, Abdur Razzaque Raju, is still at large. According to the prosecution, principal accused Pavel Ahmed, also a 'close friend' of the deceased and others, called Syed Ruhul Islam Pavel out of his house and took him to a readymade clothe store named Raj Fashion at Old Hospital Road in the afternoon of 23 November of 2010. After that the victim never returned home. Habiganj police recovered the body of Syed Ruhul from a place near the Raj Fashion after two days. Hidden in a gunny bag, the body bore marks of injuries while the hands and legs were tied up. The killing took place as Pavel and others failed to realise an amount from Syed Ruhul, who as a contractor had drawn a bill from a government department on the day of incident, family sources said. Victim's wife Syeda Nazratun Naim Mousumi filed a case accusing four people with the Habiganj Sadar PS. Later police and Rab men arrested six people but Raju. Accused Abdur Rouf Molla and Pavel Ahmed narrated their complicity in the murder while giving confessional statement before the court on Monday.
