Death in road accident sparks protest
Road link with the capital city remained suspended for nearly six hours as locals blocked Dhaka-Dinajpur highway protesting death of a cattle trader in accident yesterday.
Angry locals set fire to the bus that ran over Kahar Uddin, 40, son of late Kasar Uddin of Chirirbandar upazila.
Traffic Sergeant Belal Hossain said the road communication remained suspended since 8:45am as a Gaibandha-bound bus hit Kahar near Ambari area in the upazila.
He said that locals withdrew their blockade around 3:00pm after Roads and Highways Department in Borga constructed two speed breakers on the spot.
