6 killed in road crashes
Six people were killed and another six injured in road accidents in Sirajganj, Dinajpur, Natore, Sylhet, Jessore, and Rangpur yesterday and Sunday night.
Our correspondent from Sirajganj reports: A freedom fighter and labour leader was killed after a loaded truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw carrying him at Bhewamara village under the sadar upazila Sunday night.
Gazi Abdur Rashid, 55, resident of the village and president of the district unit Power Workers Union, died in a private hospital.
Our correspondent from Dinajpur says: A woman died after an auto-rickshaw carrying her along with other people was hit by another auto-rickshaw from behind near Phulhat Bazar in the sadar upazila yesterday.
Delwara Begum, 50,wife of Altaf Hossain of the upazila's Ramsagar area died in Dinajpur Medical College Hospital.
Our correspondent from Natore reports: A man died on the spot as a speeding truck hit him from behind on Natore-Hatikumrul highway at Manikpur under Baraigram upazila yesterday.
Zinnah Ali, 46, of the upazila's Manikpur village was hit while crossing the road.
Our staff correspondent from Sylhet adds: The helper of an improvised passenger vehicle (tempo) was killed and six other people injured as it collided head-on with a tractor on Dhaka-Sylhet highway near Syed Sayeed Uddin Degree College in Madhabpur upazila, Habiganj yesterday.
Sajal Paul, 20, the deceased, hailed from the upazila's Uttar Surma area.
Five of the injured passengers were admitted to the upazila health complex. Injured critically, one Abdul Jalil Miah was taken to Brahmanbaria sadar hospital.
Our correspondent from Benapole reports: A woman died on the spot as a speeding Nasimon (an improvised vehicle) hit her on Chougacha-Purapara road at Mokamtala area of Jessore yesterday.
Rangila Bagume, 42, the deceased, was wife of Anser Ali of Guatoi village of Chougacha upazila.
Our correspondent from Rangpur reports: Bikash, 8, son of Wazed Ali of Mithapukur upazila's Chhoto Mirzapur village, was killed as a pickup van ran him over in Barodargha area yesterday noon.
