Rly sleepers seized from Tarun League leader's house
Detective branch (DB) of police early yesterday seized 42 pieces of stolen railway sleepers from the house of a leader of Tarun League in Sadar upazila.
Following a tip-off, a team of DB police raided the house of the joint convener of district Tarun League, Mizanur Rahman Mizan, at Mogholhat WAPDA colony in Sadar upazila, said DB police officer in-charge (OC) Monirul Islam Monir.
They seized 42 pieces of stolen railway sleepers from a room of the house. But Mizan fled away from his residence sensing police raid.
A gang led by Mizan stole the railway sleepers from the abandoned Lalmonirhat- Mogholhat railway route, the OC further said.
About a month ago, members of Mogholhat BGB camp chased Mizan and his gang while they were stealing the sleepers from the area, he said adding, the camp commander filed a case with Sadar police station against two people including Mizan in this regard.
Later, the seized sleepers were handed over to police and a case was filed against the Tarun League leader.
