Narsingdi BNP leader Tareq sent to jail

A Narsingdi court yesterday rejected fresh remand prayer for BNP leader Tareq Ahmed, one of the charge sheeted accused in Narsingdi municipality mayor Lokman Hossain murder case and sent him to jail. Chief Judicial Magistrate Nitai Chandra Saha passed the order after Mamunur Rashid Mondol, investigation officer of the case, produced Tareq before the court seeking a five-day fresh remand. On December 26, the court placed the BNP leader on a five-day remand that expired yesterday. Police picked up Tareq, former vice president of Narsingdi Government College students union, from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on December 6. Masked criminals shot dead Lokman, also the general secretary of Narsingdi town Awami League, on the night of November 1 in 2011 in the district AL office on Sadar Road.
