20 tender trees cut to vent wrath

Criminals felled 20 one-year-old mahogany trees on a land belonging to Kibria Hossain at Mollikpur village in Kaliganj upazila under the district on Friday night. "A few people of this village felled the tender mahogany trees due to family feud. A few months ago, the same group felled a cluster of bamboos on my land," victim Kibria Hossain told this correspondent during the latter's visit to the plot yesterday. Demanding exemplary punishment to the culprits, a tearful Kibria said, "I planted the trees last year. These green trees have not done any harm to anybody." Sayeed Kamruzzaman, officer in charge of Kaliganj police station, said, "I have heard about felling of the tender trees. But nobody has come to file any case yet."
