Man killed by his rivals in Sylhet
An man was killed allegedly by his rivals at Ilashpur Bazar in Balaganj upazila of the district on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Arab Ullah, 60, son of late Fazr Ullah of Noyapaton village in the upazila.
Police said there was a rivalry between Arab Ullah and Gafur over capture of a water body at the village.
Arab Ullah and Gafur had an altercation at the bazaar at around 7:00pm and at one stage, the supporters of Gafur attacked him with sharp weapon, leaving him dead on the spot.
Arab Ullah's supporters---Mannan, Shamim, and Mintu-- were also injured in the attack and admitted to a local hospital.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Osmani Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
Following a case filed by the victim's family, police arrested one of the accused.
