Canon Singapore Pte Ltd in association with JAN Associates Limited, official distributor for Canon Camera products in Bangladesh, introduced an array of high-end digital cameras for the local market at a gala event on January 29 at a local hotel in Dhaka. "For the past 12 years, JAN Associates has been a business partner of Canon for its printers and scanners in Bangladesh. They have done very well and have not failed to achieve their given targets every year and that is why Canon Singapore has decided to appoint JAN Associates as the business partner for its Camera Products," said Melvyn Ho, vice president, Canon Singapore Pte Ltd while speaking at the event. "We have observed that Bangladesh has lately caught up to the enthusiasm for digital photography like most other countries. The local market has a significant demand for the digital cameras but in absence of market leaders, they have to buy their desired camera from abroad", said Abdullah H Kafi, chief executive officer (CEO), JAN Associates Limited in his speech. Kafi suggested that although cameras bought through 'grey' or illegal channels may save the consumers some money, but they are deprived from the warranty and after sales services that they could have enjoyed for the product. Moreover, such unethical trading practices not only hamper the manufacturers in a cyclic effect but endanger the genuine camera market. Canon has introduced cameras of all ranges which include the stylish and easy-to-use IXUS digital compact cameras and high performance and "value for money" PowerShot digital cameras. The professional range of DSLR digital single lens reflex cameras will dazzle both amateurs and the most demanding of professionals here. Ramp models during the launching ceremony displayed the latest cameras to the audiences. With the launch of Canon Cameras in the market, JAN Associates has opened a new service centre on the same day to ensure service for digital camera products in Bangladesh. "The centre has experienced and trained personnel using genuine Canon parts for servicing," said Melvyn.
