One killed in Meherpur clash
A man was killed and 20 others were injured in a daylong clash between two groups of villagers at Madnadanga village in Sadar upazila of Meherpur district yesterday.
Severely injured Kuddus, 30, died at Gangni upazila health complex at about 6.30:pm.
According to police, the clash ensued after one Habib's motorbike rammed a bicyclist at Gopalpur bazar at about 8:30pm on Monday. People of the bazar confined Habib and demanded compensation.
Hearing the news, relatives of Habib rushed to the spot and freed him.
The incident angered people of Habib's village Madnadanga and they locked in a quarrel with people of Gopalpur bazar at about 9.30am yesterday.
At one stage, both groups attacked each other with lethal weapons at about 12.30:pm. They clashed continued for hours leaving 18 people injured.
