15 shops, cotton godown gutted in Chittagong
At least 15 shops and a cotton godown were gutted in separate fire incidents in the city and Mirsarai upazila early Saturday.
Local people said, a fire originating from electric short circuit at around 2:30am gutted the cotton godown of Abul Hossain in city's Hamjarbag area under Bayezid PS.
On information, fire fighters rushed in and doused the blaze with the help of local people after two hours of hectic efforts. The extent of loss from the fire was estimated at Tk 15 lakh.
In another incident, a devastating fire gutted 15 shops at Aburhat bazaar in Mirsarai upazila at about 4am.
Local sources said, the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a shop and soon burned down the nearby 14 other shops.
