Outlaws send shroud to brick kiln owner
Outlaws allegedly belonging to Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP) have given death threat to a brick kiln owner at Machhkhola village in Satkhira Sadar upazila if he fails to give them Tk 3 lakh as toll.
Panic has gripped the family members of the victim Along with the letter written on the pad of PBCP, a burial shroud, a piece of red cloth and three cartridges were also sent to the brick kiln owner, Azihar Rahman of Machhkhola village.
Three people on a motorbike came to Machhkhola, handed over the letter to a labourer of the brick kiln and hurriedly left the spot at about 8:00pm on December 7.
“Your family members will be killed if you inform police regarding the letter. We are members of the PBCP. A meeting of our party decided that you have to give us Tk 3 lakh as toll. We are around you all the time. We will come to you within 10 to 12 days to take our demanded toll. You should be ready with the money,” reads the letter written with red ink.
Contacted, Azihar Rahman said, "I received the letter at about 10:00pm on December 7. Unidentified cadres of the outlawed party also demanded toll from me with a death threat over cell phone earlier."
Yesterday he filed a general diary with Sadar police station and informed the Satkhira superintendent of police of the matter, seeking security of him and his family members.
Contacted, Sadar police station Inspector (Investigation) Ratan Sheikh said they are trying to identify the culprits.
