Gonotantrik Jubo Forum, Pahari Chhatra Parishad and Hill Women's Federation jointly held a rally at Kutukchhari Bazar in Rangamati Sadar upazial on Wednesday demanding repeal of the clause concerned of the 15th amendment to the constitution. Iterating the demand for full autonomy for the CHT region, the leaders of the associate bodies of United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) said the government had betrayed with jumma people by bringing the amendment to the constitution. They also warned the government of tougher agitation if the clause concerned of the 15th amendment was not immediately repealed. The jumma people have got nothing through CHT peace accord. Rather, it resulted in a fratricidal clash between two groups of indigenous people, they said. “We want an end to the ongoing conflict. As the AL government signed the treaty, it must take the initiative to stop the clash between UPDF and PCJSS,” the leaders of the UPDF associate bodies said. Chaired by Gyan Bikash Chakma, the rally was addressed, among others, by UPDF leaders Paromat Khisa and Santu Bikash Chakma, headman Amalendu Chakma, PCP district unit Organising Secretary Bablu Chakma, and Sapchhari UP Chairman Shimul Bikash Chakma . Later, the leaders and activists of the three organisations took out a procession in the area and paraded the streets.
