Global poverty
A maxim goes like this: poverty kills all human virtues, begets vices as well as vengeance.
Unfortunately, today's world is suffering from appalling poverty. While the value of three wealthy Americans' surplus wealth is more than that of Bangladesh's total Gross Domestic Product (GD), nearly 50 million fellow Americans and 25% of our population are half-fed, homeless and without proper medicare.
Less than a dozen wealthy Indians' parting with a tiny portion of their enormous wealth can enable millions of 'slum dogs'(!) in shanties all over India to have a new lease of life.
Leaders wielding power have legal and moral obligations to ensure that the fruits of collective human endeavour will reach all segments of global population regardless of caste, colour and geographical locations.
