Road blockade programme
Several hundred people of five unions in Sadar upazia yesterday noon put up a barricade on Satkhira-Kaliganj Road demanding repair of Padmashakra sluice gate on the bank of the river Ichhamoti. The protesters blocked the road at Alipur check post intersection for an hour from 11:00am, creating huge traffic congestion there. The waterlogged people of the unions also threatened to launch a tougher agitation if the demand was not met soon.
