Four siblings get life for killing kid in Netrakona
Additional District and Sessions Judge Md. Belatullah yesterday sentenced four siblings to life term imprisonment and fined Tk 20 thousand each, in default, to suffer five years more in jail for killing a child in 2002.
The convicts are Shahid Mia, Jewel Mia, Farid Mia and Rubel Mia -- sons of Mamtazuddin of village Parila under Kalmakanda upazila in the district.
According to the prosecution, on May 8 in 2002, the convicts, following a feud, called Nur Alam, 8, son of Nurul Islam of same village out his house. They killed him and dumped the body into a nearby canal.
Nurul Islam, father of Nur Alam, next day filed a case with Kalmakanda PS accusing the four brothers Police later submitted the charge sheet.
Meanwhile, a 4-year-old girl was raped allegedly by a youth at Batta village under Kendua upazila on Friday.
Police arrested the youth next morning following filing of a case in this connection.
Police and locals said, when the girl was playing in front of their house, neighbour Anwar Hossen, 20, took her to a cowshed and raped her.
Hearing the cry of the kid, the neighbours rushed to the spot and rescued her. However the rapist managed to flee.
Police said, Anwar Hossen is an HSC student of Kendua Degree College.
