BCL activists lock NUST
Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists yesterday locked the administrative building, office of the vice chancellor and main gate of Noakhali University of Science and Technology (NUST).
They also staged a sit-in demonstration in from the VC's office and administrative building gate.
The agitation programme started at 11am yesterday demanding withdrawal of expulsion of three students.
The agitating students yesterday vowed to go for a tougher programme if the Regent Board of the university did not withdraw the expulsion order immediately.
A meeting of the broad was in progress at the time of the agitation.
Three students of the university were expelled for one year while three others fined Tk 1,000 each and warned for violating discipline at the 12th meeting of the university's Regent Board on August 23.
The expelled students are Abdul Majed Bhuiyan and Miskatur Rahman of third batch of SCE department and Omar Faruque of CSTE department.
The Regent Board took the decisions at the meeting on the basis of the report submitted by a committee that conducted a probe into the incident of clashes between two groups of students following capture of seats at Shahid Abdus Salam Hall on May 24.
