Two teenage girls commit 'suicide'
Two teenage girls allegedly committed suicide in Chandpur and Faridpur districts on Monday and Tuesday.
Shamsunnahar, 16, allegedly committed suicide by taking pesticide at Chirka village in Faridganj upazila of Chandpur on Monday night, reports UNB.
The deceased was daughter of Hazera Begum of the village.
Police quoting family sources said, Shamsunnahar took pesticide at night after her mother rebuked her for watching TV at a neighbour's house.
She died on the way to Chandpur General Hospital.
In Faridpur, body of a teenage girl was found hanging from the ceiling of a room at her maternal uncle's house at Dhuldi Bazar under Sadar upazila Tuesday afternoon.
Deceased Shoma, 15, was daughter of Abdur Razzak and Kulsum Begum of Alipur area in the town, reports our correspondent.
Rahima Akter, elder sister of Shoma said, their maternal sister Dolly came to visit Shoma at Alipur Tuesday morning and took her to their (Dolly's) house at Dhuldi Bazar.
Sources said, one Mahin, 23, the suitor of Shoma informed Rahima through cell phone that Shoma fell seriously ill at her maternal uncle Siraj Mia's house at Dhuldi.
The family members rushed to the house of Siraj Mia and found the girls body hanging from the ceiling with the help of her scarf.
Sub Inspector Monir Hossain of Kotwali police station said that they are investigating the matter whether it was a case of homicide or suicide. The incident might be related to love affairs with a local youth, he added.
