A man was jailed for life in Sirajganj yesterday for killing wife while one person was murdered allegedly by his wife in Jessore on the previous day. In Sirajganj, Additional District Judge 2 Umme Kulsum sentenced Alam Hossain to life term imprisonment for killing wife in 2003, reports our correspondent. According to the prosecution, Alam, son of Abdur Razzak of Purnimaganti village under Ullapara upazila killed his wife Beli Khatun on December 16 following a family feud and dumped the body in a septic tank. Police recovered the body the next day and sent it to hospital for autopsy. Mini Khatun, mother of the victim, filed a case accusing Alam and his family members. The judge also fined Alam Tk 25 thousand, in default, to suffer one more year in jail. In Jessore, a man was killed allegedly by his wife following a feud over her alleged extramarital affairs at Koyarpara village in Chougachha upazila Tuesday night. The deceased was identified as Mominur Rahman, 30, son of Sultan Tarafdar, of the village, reports UNB. Aktaruzzaman, officer in-charge of Chougachha PS, quoting local people said, Mominur married Komola Begum, daughter of Muktar Hossain of neighbouring Panchbaria village in the upazila 10 years ago. Recently Komola developed an extramarital relation with a neighbour which triggered bitterness between the husband and wife. Neighbours found Mominul's body in his bedroom in the morning and informed police who recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy. Police suspected that Mominul's wife might have mixed poison with his meal at night. Komola went into hiding soon after the incident.
