DoE fines four brick kilns Tk 21 lakh
The Department of Environment (DoE) yesterday fined four brick kilns at Singrai in Manikganj a total of Tk 21 lakh on charge of violating the land area limits.
A team from DoE led by its Director (Enforcement) Mohammad Munir Chowdhury fined the owners of MBC Bricks, KBC Bricks, SIC Bricks and Jahir and Rahim Bricks, said a press release.
The four kilns were using 4.7 to 9.5 acres of land while, as per rule, a kiln can use only a maximum of two acres of land for producing bricks.
Munir ordered the kilns to dismantle their structures, which were erected on the area beyond the maximum land limit, and halt their brick production until getting DoE's approval.
