50 injured in Sunamganj clash
At least 50 people were injured in a bloody clash between two groups of villagers over a trifling matter at Jhigli Berajpur village in Chhatak upazila on Friday.
Police said an altercation ensued between Rumel Mia of the village and push cart driver Jamal Mia when Rumel was hit by the push cart at local Natun Bazaar at about 4 pm.
Later, supporters of Danai Haji and Abdul Aziz of the village locked in an altercation over the issue. At one stage, both the groups equipped with lethal weapons attacked each other, leaving 50 people injured from both sides.
Six shops of the bazaar were looted and damaged during the hour-long clash. Of the injured, 15 people were admitted to different hospitals and clinics.
