Bomb, gun attack on AL leader's house

Residence of a leader of ruling Mohila Awami League came under gun and bomb attack in the town's police line area on Wednesday night. However, no casualty was reported in the attack on the residence of Syeda Jerin Rahman, Jessore district unit general secretary of Mohila AL and former municipal commissioner, according to Kotwali police. Police said unidentified criminals hurled four bombs that exploded inside the house and sprayed bullets at about 10:00pm. Jerin said the criminals after exploding bombs, fired four bullets at Jerin's son Basit Rahman, who is also a former local Chhatra League leader. He escaped unhurt, but Jerin Rahman's house was partially damaged. Basit blamed local AL leader Shahin Chakladar for the attack but Shahin refuted the allegation. Earlier, Basit addressed a rally of Awami League at local Churamankati maidan in the afternoon. Meanwhile, four people were injured in separate attacks by criminals in Jessore town on Wednesday night, reports UNB. Sources said, local youths Alamgir, Rocky and Nasir were stabbed indiscriminately by some criminals as they protested the teasing of girls by them at a wedding ceremony at the house of Abul Kashem at City College Para in the town. In another incident, Jasim, son of Rahit of Barobazar village in Sadar upazila, was grievously stabbed by a gang at night. The motive behind the attack could not be known.
