Outlaw killed by party rivals, another held with arms
An outlaw was killed allegedly by party rivals in Tangail and another was held with arms in Kushtia yesterday and the day before.
A member of an outlawed party was killed due to internal conflict at Beel Muril Guchhagram in Sadar upazila of Tangail on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Mobarak Hossain, 40, an activist of
Purbo Banglar Communist Party (Lal-Potaka) hailing from Dalan Shibpur village in Sadar upazila, reports UNB.
Quoting his wife Rizia, Shoeb Uddin Ahmed, second officer of Sadar Model PS said, Mobarak was missing since he went out of house after taking meal on Tuesday evening.
Local people saw the body of Mobarak lying in a crop land in the area at around 11pm and informed police.
Police later recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for postmortem.
Two sharp weapons were recovered from beside the body.
Police suspected that Mobarak was killed following an internal conflict with rival members of his party.
In Kushtia, police arrested a suspected leader of outlawed Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP-ML) with firearms and bombs in Bheramara upazila early yesterday, reports our correspondent.
Acting on a tip-off that some members of an outlawed party were holding a clandestine meeting at Mirzapur graveyard in the upazila, a police team raided the area at about 5:00am and nabbed Atabul Islam, 35.
However, the accomplices of Atabul managed to evade arrest, said Azam Khan, officer in-charge of Bheramara police station.
Police later recovered a light gun, two bombs and a bullet from the arrestee's possession.
According to police, Atabul is accused in several cases including three for robberies filed with Gangni police station.
