Schoolgirl commits suicide
A schoolgirl allegedly committed suicide in the city's Dakkhinkhan on Eid day.
The victim Ratna Akhter, 13, studying in class six of Sirajuddin High School in Tongi, hung herself by the neck with a rope from a beam on the ceiling.
Sub-Inspector Biplab Biswas of Dakkhinkhan Police Station said Ratna's mother Sahara Khatun went to work in Oman 16 days ago despite Ratna's disapproval, which likely caused Ratna to suffer from depression.
