Tk 10 lakh fine for earth filling
The Department of Environment (DoE) in a drive fined the owner of a proposed industry Tk 10 lakh for illegally filling up a canal and marshy land at Pathalia mouza of Ashulia in Savar yesterday.
The DoE also asked the owner to remove the earth from the wetlands within November 15, says a press release.
The team found that the owner had been filling up the wetlands by dredging the Bongshi River.
Earlier in this week, DoE, in two drives, fined three organisations Tk 20 lakh.
