Scanners will be installed in all the 24 cattle markets in Khulna to detect fake banknotes of various denominations. This is for the first time that such a move has been taken in addition to deployment of adequate security forces in the cattle markets where sacrificial animals will be sold on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. KMP Commissioner Shafiqur Rahman and Additional Police Superintendent of Khulna district Jahangir Alam said both sellers and buyers of sacrificial animals will be provided with security if they ask for it on their way to and from markets. Apart from deployment of security forces, a separate police camp will be set up in Jorhagate cattle market under Khulna City Corporation, said Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque. Special police teams, each headed by a sub-inspector, will be engaged in patrol duty in the markets from October 30 till the day of Eid-ul-Azha. Besides, Rab personnel will also be on patrol duty round-the-clock in the cattle markets, said Md Kamrul Islam, senior assistant superintendent of police. Members of the intelligence agencies have been asked to keep sharp watch on buyers to check payment of fake banknotes after purchasing sacrificial animals, KMP Commissioner said.
