Three more held, human chain demands arrest of main accused

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) yesterday arrested three more people in connection with the killing of joint convener of city unit Jubo League Sajid Parvez Jadu from a house at Patgram in Lalmonirhat district. Assistant Superintendent of Police Humayun Kabir of Rab Rangpur camp told newsmen that they raided a house adjoining Patgram bus terminal early in the morning and arrested Apel, Dulal Chandra Mohanta and Phul Badsha. He said, three days back detective branch police arrested Chandu Miah of Kamarpara in connection with the killing of Jadu. Chandu during primary interrogation disclosed the name of the killers of Jadu. Accordingly, Rab raided the house and arrested Apel and Dulal yesterday. Phul Badsha of Patgram was arrested on charge of helping Apel and Dulal hide at the house, he added. ASP Humayun Kabir further said that Dulal and Apel confessed to police that they were hired by secretary of Rangpur Motor Shramik Union Abdul Majid to kill Jadu on October 16. Accordingly, they killed him and dumped the body in a paddy field at Kamarpara. Enmity developed between Jubo League leader Sajid Parvez Jadu and Majid over negotiation of a recently floated Tk 23 crore tender of Water Development Board (WDB), Rab sources said. Meanwhile, Rangpur Dokan Malik Samity and several business forums formed a human chain at Rangpur court square yesterday morning demanding arrest of Mojid, one of the main accused in Jadu killing case. On the other hand, Rangpur Motor Shramik Union held a press conference at Rangpur Press Club yesterday noon. The leaders of the organisation threatened the administration that they would go for an indefinite transport strike on all routes to and from Rangpur next week if the name of Mojid not dropped from the list of accused immediately.
