IFC official due today
A senior official of International Finance Corporation (IFC) begins his three-day visit to Dhaka today to meet IFC stakeholders from the country's public and private sectors.
Pierre Guislain, director of the joint World Bank-IFC Investment Climate Department, will meet senior officials of Prime Minister's Office, National Board of Revenue, Ministry of Commerce and Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority, says a press release.
“Bangladesh has the largest investment climate programme within the World Bank Group. IFC is further deepening the investment climate efforts in two areas of focus: regulatory simplification and private investment generation,” Guislain said prior to his arrival to Bangladesh.
Guislain will also meet business chambers, such as Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and International Chamber of Commerce, Bangladesh.
He will have separate meetings with private sector representatives and attend the launch of the new private sector-driven Public Private Dialogue platform “BUILD”.
IFC, a member of World Bank Group, is a long-standing partner to Bangladesh's public and private sector in areas of regulatory reform, e-governance, economic zones and strengthening institutional and private-sector capacity.
During his visit, Guislain will also speak to journalists about IFC programmes, investing US $19 billion in 2011 for its clients to create jobs, strengthen environmental performance and contribute to their local communities.
