Missing youth found dead
A group of divers of fire service recovered the body of a missing youth from the Mahananda river near Shoshan Ghat in the town yesterday.
The deceased was Shahidul Islam Sentu, 23, son of Nazrul Islam, of Shibtola of Chapainawabganj.
Sentu went missing since Thursday night after a group of boys beat him up at the bank of Mahananda river near Shoshan Ghat.
Quoting family sources police said they beat him with sticks mercilessly and dashed him into the river as he protested crackers explosion, which were exploded beside him while he along with his friends were sitting beside the bank of the river to see the immersion of Durga.
Police detained one Alif, 20, son of late Sadruzzaman, of Mistripara in the town, for interrogation.
Police sent the body to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
