Two arrested in Joypurhat
Joypurhat police yesterday arrested a man and a woman in connection with the case for alleged murder of a director of Naogaon Palli Bidyut Samity (PBS).
The arrestees were identified as Shanjita Akter Ruma, 26, wife of Golap Hossain of Puranpoil in Joypurhat Sadar upazila and Pijush Kumar Chowdhury 40, a microbus driver of Ayma village in Pachbibi upazila of the same district.
According to police, body of Aminul Hasan Munnu 52, was recovered at Belamla village in Joypurhat Sadar upazila early Tuesday.
Police suspect that criminals killed him by suffocating into river water near Barashivaloya temple of the district.
Later the killers left the body beside a road at Belamla village.
Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, officer in-charge of Joypurhat police station said, acting on a tip off, a police team in two separate raids yesterday morning arrested the two from their houses.
The OC quoting the arrestees said that the day before the murder, Munnu and Ruma visited Shapnopuri, an artificial park in Nawabganj upazila of Dinajpur by a hired microbus, of which Pijush was driver.
Pijush told the police that his microbus was hired on October 2.
During the visit, Munnu fell sick due to boozing and was taken to Phulbari upazila health complex of Dinajpur. Later the doctors of the health complex suggested to take Munnu to a better hospital for treatment.
On his way, Munnu succumbed to his illness, the driver told police.
Later Ruma suggested the driver to leave the body on the road at Belamla village on Monday night, the driver claimed.
