A man was killed while 36 others were injured in clashes in Kishoreganj, Pabna and Rajshahi districts yesterday. One person was killed and 20 others were injured in a fierce clash over control of a waterbody at Karati village in Tarail upazila of Kishoreganj yesterday. The deceased was identified as Bakul Khan, 35, son of Mumruj Khan of the village, reports our correspondent. Witnesses said, there was a longstanding rivalry between Mizan group and Rafiq group over the ownership of Pubaidia Jolmohal. When Rafiq group, equipped with lethal weapon, went to the waterbody yesterday morning, their rivals way laid them, triggering a clash that left 21 people injured from both sides. Among the injured, Bakul Khan succumbed to his injuries at upazila health complex. In Pabna, at least four members of a family were hacked by the relatives following a dispute over landed property at Maniknagar village of Ishwardi upazila yesterday, reports our correspondent. The injured are Md Lutfar Rahman Fakir, 65, and his three sons Mintu Fakir, 40, Nantu Fakir, 35, and Sentu Fakir, 32. Of them, Lutfor and Mintu were shifted to RMCH in critical condition. There was a longstanding feud between Lutfor and his cousin advocate Abul Kalam Azad over the landed property, said Md Abdus Shukur, sub inspector of Ishwardi police station. When Lutfor went to the land yesterday morning, the supporters of Kalam attacked him, he said. The three sons of Lutfor were also attacked and hacked mercilessly as they tried to save their father, police said. In Brahmanbaria, at least 22 people were injured as two rival groups locked in a fierce clash at Kharial village under Ashuganj upazila yesterday. According to villagers, hospital and polices sources, there was a longstanding enmity between Bashir group and Kayum group of the same village, reports our correspondent. Following an altercation yesterday, both groups equipped with lethal weapons attacked each other for one hour till noon. As a result, at least 22 people from both groups were injured.
