Madrassa boy, Imam killed
An Imam of a mosque and a madrassa boy were murdered in Habiganj and Dinajpur districts on Sunday.
Criminals in Habiganj tortured an Imam of a mosque in the town to death and dumped his body into a ditch in Gosainagar area.
The deceased was identified as Kawsar Ahmed, Imam of Shafi Bakht Jam`e Mosque in Purbo Shyamoli area in Gosainagar and son of Aftaaj Uddin of Korab village of Lakhai upazila, reports UNB.
Police said, locals found his bruised body floating in a pond early in the morning and informed police.
Police, witnesses and hospital sources said the body bore multiple injury marks in the head and different other parts.
Locals suspect that hired killers might have tortured him to death after kidnapping him following a land dispute with one of his neighbours at Korab village.
In Dinajpur, a 10-year-old madrassa student was murdered on the campus in Nawabganj upazila early Sunday, reports our correspondent.
The victim was identified as Shafiuzzaman Shakil 11, son of Amzad Hossain of Ramchandrapur village in Panchbibi upazila of Joypurhat. He was a student of Jami'atul Islamia Madrassa of Nawabganj upazila in Dinajpur.
According to the fellow students, Shakil went to bed on Saturday like the other days. During Fazr prayers, the students found him missing. After an extensive search, they found his body hanging inside a toilet of the madrassa.
Amzad Hossain, father of the victim, filed a murder case with Birganj police station.
Mozaffar Hossain, investigation officer of the case, said that the boy was murdered. But the motive behind the murder is yet to be known, he said.
