12 'robbers' held with arms in Comilla, Narsingdi
Police and Rab forces, in separate drives, arrested 12 alleged robbers along with arms in Comilla and Narsingdi districts early yesterday.
In Comilla, police rounded up 10 people along with three firearms and 14 bullets at Nagessar village in Nangolkot upazila, reports UNB.
Police said, a gang of robbers swooped on the house of Monir Hossain, a South Africa expatriate and looted valuables keeping the members of the house hostage at gunpoint.
Informed by neighbours, police rushed to the spot and arrested the robbers after a hot chase while they were fleeing with the booty.
The arrestees are Kamal, 25, Monir Hossain, 27, Mannan, 32, Mohsin, 42, Rashid, 30, Hossain, 32 of Ramganj upazila of Laxmipur district, Anwar Hossain, 26, of Faridganj upazila in Chandpur, Saddam, 32, of Sripur upazila in Munshiganj, Monir Hossain, 25 of Mehendiganj upazila in Barisal and Shah Alam, 32, of Sadar Dakkhin upazila in Comilla district.
Two rifles, one air-gun, 14 bullets, one laptop, five mobile phone sets, two sharp weapons were recovered from their possession.
In Narsingdi, members of Rapid Action Battalion and police, in separate drives, arrested two alleged robbers along with arms in Shibpur upazila, according to the news agency.
Acting on a secret information, police nabbed Nurul Amin Nura, 30, along with one shutter gun and one bullet from his house at Telia village in the upazila early yesterday.
He was wanted in several cases including for murder and robbery.
In another drive, Rab-11 members arrested Al Amin, 25, along with a 9mm pistol from Itakhola area in the upazila. Later he was handed over to police.
