Top outlaw arrested
Detective Branch (DB) of police yesterday noon arrested Jarip Katoli, the 'regional commander' of Biplobi Communist Party (BCP) from the town. Sub-Inspector (SI) Badruzzaman of DB police said Jarip is accused in 12 criminal cases including 11 for murder in Kushtia. Jarip is a 'listed criminal' of the special branch of Magura police, he said. Sources said Jarip is involved in underground politics of BCP for about 26 years. Police arrested him yesterday from Mokhlesur Rahman road in the town while he was in a procession of Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) after formally joining CPB at a meeting organised by its district unit.
