Arbitrators beat up alleged rapist
Arbitrators beat up an alleged rapist and fined him Tk 10,000 on Wednesday at Muradia union parishad office under Dumki upazila.
The arbitration was led by Md Mizanur Rahman, UP chairman for Muradia UP while Bidhan Dewry, Abdus Satar, Kabir Hossain, all UP members, Kuddus Mollah, vice president of Muradia union unit Awami League, also former UP member, Kartik Dafadar were present as arbitrators.
Mizanur Rahman delivered the judgment and executed his verdict by giving 50 lashes in the presence of over 100 local people.
Police meanwhile rescued the rape victim and sent her to Patuakhali General Hospital for medical checkup.
Mintu Mia, father of the victim, filed a case against the alleged rapist Abdul Khaleq, 40, of north Muradia.
The parents of the victim said that Abdul Khaleq, father of four children, raped their 7-year-old daughter at about 8:00 pm on Tuesday at his house.
Khaleq allegedly called the girl to his house when her parents went to the nearby market.
The next day the parents of the victim lodged a complaint with the office of the UP chairman.
