6 children rescued while being trafficked to India

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rescued 6 children yesterday while being trafficked to India through Putkhali border. The rescued children were identified as Hillal Molla, 12, son of Billal Molla, Babul Molla,9, son of Mohsin Molla, Sujon Molla,12, son of Akar Molla, Samrat Mia, 11, son of Baru Molla, Nahid Molla, 13, son of Habib Molla and Shahin Sheikh, 12, son of Ali Sheikh. All of them hailed from Kharolia village in Narail district. Police said a gang of 8 to 10 human traffickers allured the victims and took them to Putkhali border, soon after they arrived at Benaploe bus stand from Narail to visit their aunt's house early yesterday and snatched Tk 14,000 from them after torturing them. Later, hearing the screams of the victims, BGB members rushed to the spot and rescued the children. The BGB members also caught a suspected human trafficker, Mahbub, in this connection and handed him over to local police. Earlier on Wednesday, Border Security Forces (BSF) of India handed over six teenage Bangladeshi girls who were trafficked to India, to BGB through Beanpole check-post. The victims were identified as Rehana, daughter of Jamal Uddin of Satkhira, Farida, daughter of Ismail of Jhikargachha, Shapla, daughter of Arman Sheikh of Sharsha, Mousumi, daughter of Masud Sheikh of Narail, Nazma, daughter of Abdul Latif of Kalaroa and Mina Hawladar, daughter of Abdul Mannan of Narayanganj. BDR and immigration police said a gang of women traffickers took the girls to India in the name of giving good jobs there. Rights Jessore, an NGO, contacted the home ministries of both the countries in this connection. Finally, BSF handed them over to BGB on Wednesday. Later, BGB sent them to Benapole port police who handed them over to Rights Jessore.
