Man kills his brother, woman her mother
A man killed his younger brother on Sunday while a woman hacked her mother to death on Saturday.
A man was stabbed to death allegedly by his younger brother at Gaidghat village in Sadar upazila of Chuadanga on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Joynal Abedin, 45, son of late Abdul Gafur Mondol of the village, reports UNB.
Police quoting witnesses said, there was an enmity among six sons of Gafur Mondol over a piece of land.
An altercation ensued between Joynal and his younger brother Aynal Abedin over the issue in the morning. At one stage, Aynal picked up a billhook and stabbed Joynal indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot at 11:00 am.
Incensed by fratricide, Mozammel and Nizam Uddin, two sons of Gafur, hit Aynal and his wife Jyotsna Khatun with sharp weapon, leaving them severely wounded.
In Kishoreganj, a mother was hacked to death allegedly by her 'mentally retarded' daughter at Charteki Konapara village in Pakundia upazila on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Halima Khatun, 50, wife of Alauddin of the village.
Police quoting locals said, Fatema, 25, locked in an altercation with her mother Halima over a trifling family matter in the morning.
Later, Fatema hacked her mother with a sharp weapon when she was sleeping at her room, leaving her critically injured at around 11:00 am.
Later, she succumbed to her injuries at Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital at around 9:00 pm.
Police arrested Fatema after the incident.
