Woman knifed to death by ex-husband

A woman worker has been knifed to death allegedly by her former husband in Bhaluka upazila headquarters. The deceased was identified as Kamrunnahar Saleha, 19, a worker at Russel Spinning Mill and daughter of Abul Quashem of Kanthali village of the upazila. Family sources said Saleha was married off with Jasim Uddin, son of Monu Mia of Purbo Bhaluka village two and a half years ago. Jasim used to torture Saleha, both physically and mentally since the marriage. At one stage, Saleha decided to part with Jasim as she no longer could bear his cruelty. She divorced Jasim on September 11 last year which angered him. Jasim used to harass Saleha since the divorce and on Septeber 17, 2011, he attacked her with a knife on her way back home from the mill and stabbed her indiscriminately leaving her severely injured.
