Rivals beat old man dead
An old man was killed in an attack by his opponents over land dispute at Chapuir village in Sadar upazila on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Saru Mia, 70, resident of the village.
Locals said there was a long standing dispute between Saru Mia and his neighbours Khalil Mia, Daru Mia and Ilias Mia over the ownership of the land.
They said, following an altercation over the issue, his opponents attacked and beat Saru Mia mercilessly at about 8:30am leaving him critically injured.
Later, the victim succumbed to his injuries on way the to a local hospital.
On information, police recovered the body and send it to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
