Nilphamari Civil Surgeon's Office
Complaint stalls appointments of staffs as per FFs' quota
A Nilphamari court has issued an interim injunction upon the civil surgeon of Nilphamari, assistant director (Health) in Rangpur Division, additional district magistrate of Nilphamari and the representative of Public Service Commission in Rajshahi to refrain from appointing to some posts of office assistant cum computer typist according to a list supplied by the district command of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad.
Senior Assistant Judge in Nilphamari, who issued the injunction on September 6, also asked the four persons to show cause within seven days why temporary injunction would not be issued regarding the petition of the complainant in the case of Mohabbat Hossain versus Civil Surgeon of Adhunik Sadar Hospital at Nilphamari, also member secretary of appointment and scrutiny committee, and others.
Earlier on September 5, Mohabbat Hossain, son of Abul Kasem Sarker of Dakkhin Titpara village in Dimla upazila under Nilphamari district, claiming himself with documents as a genuine freedom fighter's son, lodged a complaint in the Court of Senior Assistant Judge in Nilphamari against eight people.
They include the above mentioned four persons, Nilphamari district unit commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad, director general, Health Directorate, Dhaka, secretary, Health and Family Planning Department, Bangladesh Secretariat, Dhaka, and deputy commissioner, Nilphamari.
The Civil Surgeon's Office in Nilphamari advertised in newspaper for applications for 10 vacant posts of office assistant cum computer typist, the complainant said.
"According to law, 30% of the posts, in this case three posts out of 10, are to be kept reserved for freedom fighters quota. I participated in the written test on August 13 and passed it.
"For three posts in freedom fighters quota, 15 candidates of freedom fighters' families were asked to appear before the viva board. I expect to get a good result as I answered well in the viva.
"To gain illegal financial benefits, the district commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad with the connivance of the civil surgeon of Nilphamari is conspiring to appoint, under the quota for freedom fighters' children, the candidates who lack merit and competence and did bad in different tests. He sent a list of candidates under the quota for giving them appointment although they are not eligible.
"My name was not included in that list although I did well in all the tests.
I seek remedy from the court so that I get justice and the first four accused in collaboration with each other cannot give appointment to inefficient and failed candidates," the complainant said.
