Four abducted in Khagrachhari

Four men were abducted allegedly by a group of criminals from two remote villages of Lakshmichhari upazila in Khagrachhari district yesterday. The victims were identified as Kanak Baran Chakma, 30, Arun Bikash Chakma of Shuknachhari village and Kali Mohan Chakma, 55, Bindu Kumar Chakma, 40, of Barmachhari village. About 15-20 men first abducted Kanak and Arun from Shuknachhari village, and then raided Barmachhari village to pick up the rest two, police said quoting villagers. On information, joint forces of the police and army raided the areas to find out the abductees, said Kamrul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Laksmichhari police station. According to the locals, the four might have been abducted over local political feud or for ransom, the OC added.
