3 drown in boat capsize
At least three people including a child drowned as an engine-driven boat capsized in Kamalar Beel in Tarail upazila yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Julekha Akhter, 60, Tarun, 6, grandson of Julekha of Kurshi village in Itna upazila and Asia Khatun, 30, of Belanka village in Tarail upazila.
Police and locals said, the boat with around 15 people on board suddenly overturned in Kamalar Beel while going to upazila Sadar from Hasla in Damiha union, at about 10:30 in the morning.
Three people went missing while the rest of the passengers managed to swim ashore.
Later, police with the help of local people recovered the bodies of the three missing at noon.
