Shajahan Mia, an assistant director of the Department of Mass Communication, passed away at Rangpur Medical College Hospital yesterday at the age of 55, a press release said. Bhawaiya (folk song) singer Shajahan was rushed to the hospital on Monday following a cardiac arrest at Lalmonirhat. He left behind his wife, only son and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death. He was buried at the Martyred Intellectual Graveyard in Mirpur after his namaz-e-janaza at Mohammadpur Krishi Market Jaame Masjid in the city. Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Abul Kalam Azad and Information Secretary Hedayetullah Al Mamun expressed deep shock at his death and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family.
