Road crashes kill 7
Seven people, including two women, were killed and 63 others injured in separate road accidents in Gaibandha, Munshiganj, Thakurgaon, Comilla, Sherpur and Chapainawabganj on Monday and yesterday.
Our Gaibandha correspondent reports: One woman was killed on the spot and 21 others injured when a Bogra-bound bus of Roman Paribahan hit a roadside tree and plunged into a ditch while it was giving side another bus coming from opposite direction on Rangpur-Bogra highway at Dublagari yesterday.
The deceased is Asia Begum, 50, of village Amlagachi of Palashbari upazila.
The injured were admitted to Palashbari Health Complex and Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
Our Munshiganj correspondent adds: An unidentified woman, 60, was killed as a tempo hit her while she was crossing the road in Muktarpur area of Sadar upazila yesterday.
Local people caught driver Sabbir Hossain, 18, along with his tempo, police said.
Our Thakurgaon correspondent says: At least 25 people, including women and children, were injured when a Dhaka-bound bus collided head-on with a truck coming from opposite direction at Egaromile village of Boda upazila in Panchagarh on Monday night.
The injured were admitted to Boda Upazila Health Complex and Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital.
UNB adds: Five people were killed and 17 others injured in separate road accidents in Comilla, Sherpur and Chapainawabganj yesterday.
In Sherpur, Abdul Khalek, 55, a blacksmith, of Deflai village in Jhenaigati upazila, was killed and four others were injured when a Jhenaigati-bound bus rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Sherpur-Jhenaigati road at Kandapara in the upazila yesterday.
The injured were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Police sent the body to hospital morgue for autopsy and seized the vehicles.
None was arrested as the driver of the bus managed to flee away.
In Comilla, Harunur Rashid, a microbus passenger, was killed and five others were injured when a Noakhali-bound bus hit a microbus coming from opposite direction on Noakhali-Comilla road in Laksam Bypass Housing State area yesterday.
The injured were admitted to Laksam Hospital.
In another accident, an unidentified man was killed when a Dhaka-bound Star Line bus ran over him on Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Gomta in Chandina upazila.
Police recovered the body and sent to hospital morgue for autopsy.
In Chapainawabganj, Farikul Islam Kalu, 30, son of Azhar Ali, of Alinagar village in Gomastapur upazila, was killed and six others were injured when a bus hit a locally made human hauler at Mission crossing in Gomastapur upazila.
The injured were admitted to Upazila Health Complex and Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
In another incident, Azad, 40, of Mirzapur village in Naogaon, was killed and two other motorcyclists were injured as a truck hit a motorcycle at Rehaichar in municipality area on Monday.
The injured were brought to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
