Talks today to end deadlock at Barapukuria
The ministry concerned will hold a meeting in the capital today to end the indefinite strike at Barapukura coal mine.
Engineer Quamruzzaman, managing director of Barapukuria Coal Mine Company Ltd, said high officials of Petrobangla, BCMCL, labour contract company XMC, and three leaders of the miners and workers union will join the today's meeting.
Md Mojibul Ferdous, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Parbatipur upazila told this correspondent that he had already informed the TU leaders about the meeting scheduled to be held at the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources at 12:00noon.
The BCMCL officials are optimistic about positive outcome of the meeting.
Around 1,200 contractual miners and staff of Barapukuria coal mine went on an indefinite strike on August 23 demanding regularisation of their jobs.
At least six meeting were held in the last 13 days between the leaders of the agitating miners and the officials of BCMCL and XMC to resolve the crisis. But the meetings yielded no positive results.
