BASIS SoftExpo 2008 starts Feb 14

Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), the apex body of software industry is going to hold its annual mega exposition Basis SoftExpo 2008 at the Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Centre (BCFCC) from February 14-18. Basis is expecting more than 200 exhibitors will participate this year's evet, says a press release. This year the theme of the fair is 'Get, Gain, Grow'. Denmark is the theme country and ITB, the IT Industry Association of Denmark is an associate partner of the forthcoming expo. Paris chamber, UK trade and investment and Japan External Trade Organisation (Jetro) will be the strategic partners of the exposition. TIM Nurul Kabir, Basis director and convener of Softexpo-2008 said that "We arrange the annual mega ICT exposition every year to present Bangladesh's ICT potentials to the local and international players in the sector such as service providers, foreign investors, development agencies, policy makers and ICT associations. I hope we can show our capabilities successfully through this year's event." Fifteen Danish IT companies is expected to participate at the software showcase with the vision to develop partnership with local software industry and increase their local presence as well. Paris chamber is also promoting the Basis SoftExpo-2008 among 300 foreign IT companies to join and explore the potentials of native IT industry. Jetro and UK trade and investment are also taking the same efforts. Dutch specialist Paul Tija will also join the exposition along with some Dutch delegates. IT companies from USA, Germany and Sweden are also expected to join the fair.
